Football Meet Music: "My Guy" Harry Kane Names Burna Boy As His Top African Artist

Football meets Afrobeats — England captain Harry Kane is vibing to Nigerian superstar Burna Boy, and he’s not shy about it. The Bayern Munich striker has officially named Burna Boy as his favourite African artist, calling the Nigeria Grammy-Award winner "my guy"

In a recent interview with ESPN UK, Kane shared his admiration for Burna Boy’s music, admitting that the hit single “Big 7” has been stuck in his head for weeks. The football star added that if he had to attend any live performance, Burna Boy would be at the top of his list—alongside British rapper Dave.

“You know, ‘Big 7’ from Burna Boy? Yeah, I do like Burna Boy, to be fair,” Kane said, showing just how much the Nigerian superstar’s sound resonates with him.

Kane’s playlist proves to be as diverse as his skill set on the pitch. Apart from Burna Boy, he enjoys artists like Adele, Taylor Swift, and Ed Sheeran, with a soft spot for country hits like “Wagon Wheel.” However, Burna Boy remains his clear favourite from Africa.

Burna Boy continues to break barriers and gain international recognition. From performing at iconic venues like the London Stadium and Madison Square Garden to topping global charts, it’s no surprise that stars like Harry Kane can’t get enough of his hits.
