Fashion Entrepreneur Toyin Lawani Accuses British Airways Staff Of Abuse At Ghana Airport (Video)

 

A Nigeria fashion guru, Toying Lawani, living with a disability has accused British Airways staff of verbal abuse, intimidation, and physical assault during a flight check-in incident at Kotoka International Airport, Accra.

The allegations written by the fashion entrepreneur who has degenerative spine disease and requires wheelchair assistance, were shared in a detailed public statement and accompanying videos posted on her verified social media page, where she recounted her Thursday experience while attempting to board a British Airways flight scheduled for 9:10 pm.

According to @tiannahplaceempire, despite checking in online and arriving at the counter at 7:40 p.m., she alleges British Airways staff refused to process her boarding pass while continuing to assist other passengers. 

The situation reportedly escalated into shouting, threats to prevent her from travelling, and mockery of her disability. She further claims her phone was knocked from her hand during the confrontation, and police were later called to the scene—not in support of the staff.

As a result, the celebrity fashion designer missed her flight and was forced to purchase a new ticket costing over $3,000 to return to the UK. She says the incident left her physically shaken and emotionally traumatized.

Toyin who has also called for a full investigation—citing airport CCTV footage and eyewitnesses, revealed that she struggled to document the incident due to emotional trauma and physical exhaustion. She missed a doctor’s appointment and avoided making a video statement because of her voice condition.

As of the time of this report, British Airways has not issued a detailed public response addressing the allegations which took the passenger 2 days just to be able to type.
